Bottom Line: What Tribulus Actually Is and Isn’t

Tribulus terrestris is a traditional plant extract with preliminary evidence that it may modestly improve sexual desire in men with low libido—nothing more. It does not increase testosterone. If your actual need is sexual desire support and you have normal testosterone, tribulus at 1,000mg daily for 8-12 weeks is a low-cost, low-risk trial. Realistic expectation: modest improvement, not dramatic. If your need is testosterone elevation, tribulus is scientifically indefensible—use evidence-supported alternatives like tongkat ali or ashwagandha instead. If you’re taking tribulus in a multi-ingredient “T-booster” formula at 300mg per serving, you’re likely wasting money on both the tribulus and the formula.
